Janis Turk is an award-winning independent travel journalist and photographer whose new book Frommer’s San Antonio & Austin Day by Day (1st Ed.) has just been released in stores nationwide and on Amazon.Com

Turk’s travel writing and photography have appeared in magazines such as Hemispheres (United Airlines in-flight), Spirit (Southwest Airlines in-flight), Pontiac Performance, AUGUST Man, Luxx Jewellry, Louisiana Cookin’, New York City Thrive, AAA Texas Journey, and more, as well as popular newspapers such as The Chicago Tribune, The Dallas Morning News, The Houston Chronicle and others. She also scribes online pieces for popular travel sites such as Frommer’s and GoNomad. She is the winner of the Best Travel Writing 2009 award from GoNomad for her piece on Macao. Turk has written two travel guides for Smarter Travel and has been the travel editor for Today’s Groom, as well as the managing editor of four popular regional magazines including San Antonio AT HOME.

Turk divides her time between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Seguin, Texas, where she is a member of the faculty in the department of English and Communication Studies at Texas Lutheran University
