Janis Turk is a member of the faculty in the Department of English and Communication Studies of Texas Lutheran University where she has taught English, Rhetoric, English as a Second Language, and Travel-Themed Literature for the past 11 years.

Janis completed her graduate work in English Literature at Texas State University, and completed undergraduate studies in English and Journalism at Texas Lutheran College

While living in Durango, Mexico, she taught English at the Universidad Juarez del Estado de Durango.

Janis later moved to Texas to teach English at
Austin Community College.
